Extending Our Strategy: A Year for Continued Progress and Improvement

As the organisation that checks the quality of healthcare in Wales, our priority is making sure that people and communities receive safe, effective, and high-quality care that meets their needs.

A year of continued progress and Improvement

After careful consideration, we have decided to extend our current strategy by one year, from 2022-2025 to 2022-2026. This extension allows us to continue our work, ensuring that healthcare services meet the needs of all communities, especially those facing inequalities and barriers to access.

Over the next year, we will maintain our focus on improving healthcare quality, ensuring patient safety, and addressing performance challenges across services. The extended strategy allows us to further our commitment to delivering impactful improvements and meeting the evolving needs of people across Wales.

Our strategy focuses on ensuring healthcare services in Wales are safe, effective, and meet the needs of all communities.

Over the extended period from 2022 to 2026, we aim to:

  1. Improve Healthcare Quality: We will focus on the quality of healthcare provided to people and communities as they access, use and move between services.
  2. Respond to Emerging Risks: We will adapt our approach to ensure we are responsive to emerging risks to patient safety.
  3. Drive Service Improvement: We will work collaboratively to drive system and service improvement within healthcare.
  4. Support Our Workforce: We will support and develop our workforce to enable them, and the organisation, to deliver our priorities.

By delivering this strategy, we aim to influence healthcare improvements, support equality, and ensure high standards in healthcare across Wales.
