General Practice Inspections Pilot 2014-15 Thematic Review

Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) completed a pilot year of inspections of General Practice (GP) during 2014-15.

2014-15 saw the introduction of General Practice (GP) inspections by HIW. We inspected 34 practices during this period and during each inspection we considered and reviewed the following areas: 

  • Patient experience 
  • Delivery of Standards for Health Services in Wales 
  • Communicating effectively 
  • Records management 
  • Dealing with concerns and managing incidents 
  • Management and leadership 
  • Quality of environment. 

This review provides an overview of the findings from the inspections carried out.
