Local Supervising Authority for Midwives reports

The Local Supervising Authority for Midwives (LSA) was responsible for the supervision of all midwives practising in Wales.

The purpose of the LSA was to:

  • Ensure that health boards who provide NHS maternity services comply with the standards set by the Nursing Midwifery Council.
  • Support midwives in their practice through a model of statutory supervision that has clear standards and processes to enhance public protection but which also proactively supports midwives to provide with confidence, a high standard of midwifery care with choice for women.
