Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) – Draft Monitoring and Reporting Strategy for Wales
We are currently consulting on our draft monitoring and reporting strategy for the new Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS).
The Welsh Government consultation on the Liberty Protection Safeguards launched on the 17 March. Details of the Welsh Government consultation, and additional resources on LPS can be found on their website.
In Wales, the function of monitoring the operation of the LPS is performed by Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW), Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) and in respect of education settings, the function is also performed by Estyn.
Monitoring and reporting on the LPS will give us an idea of how it is working in practice across Wales and help keep standards high.
We have worked with Estyn and CIW to develop a draft monitoring and reporting strategy. This describes how we will discharge our responsibilities for monitoring and reporting LPS.
How to respond
We have developed a short survey to capture views on the draft strategy. The survey covers the following three questions:
- Do you think the approach to monitoring and reporting on the Liberty Protection Safeguards is clear in the strategy?
- Will the approach help to provide assurance that Liberty Protection Safeguards are being implemented appropriately in Wales?
- Is there anything we have missed and should be included?
The deadline for submitting your response is 7 July 2022.
