In our Operational Plan for 2021-22 we outlined our continued commitment to deliver bespoke local reviews in NHS settings, in order to drive improvement.
We committed to undertake a local review of the quality governance arrangements in place for the provision of healthcare services for Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP) Swansea, by Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB).
HIW has the legal power to inspect prison healthcare services provided by NHS Wales bodies. HIW has a remit to enter and inspect any premises where care is provided by or for Welsh NHS bodies under the Health and Social Care (Community Health and Standards) Act 2003.
