Reviewers are valued members of our teams
We are responsible for inspecting, reviewing and investigating NHS and Independent Healthcare Services throughout Wales. This will help to improve the quality of care for patients using these services. To do this we work closely with our reviewers.
Peer Reviewers are health professionals from a range of specialisms from across Wales. They usually form part of a multi-disciplinary team and their knowledge and expertise ensures our work is based on current practice and experience.
This helps us to highlight good practice and to reinforce and share Healthcare Standards within both the NHS and Independent Healthcare Sector for public assurance and improved service for patients.
Patient Experience Reviewers
Our Patient Experience Reviewers come from a range of backgrounds from all over Wales. We particularly welcome applications people with disabilities, people from ethnic minority communities and young people who are currently under-represented.
Mental Health – Experts by Experience
We need Experts by Experience from a range of backgrounds from all over Wales. They will have experience of Mental Health services in Wales, either as a carer or as a service user, in the last five years.
Both our Patient Experience and Experts by Experience reviewers are important members of the HIW review teams and bring their values and life experience into the work of HIW. Their objective assessment helps us to highlight concerns all types of healthcare providers to consider, address and subsequently improve the care that patients receive.
Stroke and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Nurses
